THE PFISTER® HOTEL TO HOST HISTORIC HOTELS OF AMERICA’S ANNUAL CONFERENCE; WILL HOST A SPECIAL ILLUMINATION CEREMONY IN CONJUNCTION WITH MILWAUKEE HOLIDAY LIGHTS FESTIVAL

The Pfister® Hotel in downtown Milwaukee, which is owned and managed by Marcus® Hotels & Resorts, will be hosting Historic Hotels of America’s annual conference Nov. 19 – 21, 2013. At the same time, in conjunction with Milwaukee’s holiday lights festival, The Pfister will host a special illumination ceremony at 6:45 p.m. on Thursday, November 21.

Since 1994, The Pfister has been a member of Historic Hotels of America, a program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation that identifies quality hotels that have faithfully maintained their historic integrity, architecture and ambiance. This year, the Marcus family, which has led the restoration and enhancement of the iconic Pfister Hotel for three generations, is a nominee for “Legendary Family Historic Hoteliers of the Year” in Historic Hotels of America’s 2013 Annual Awards Program.  The awards will take place at The Pfister on Thursday, Nov. 21.

“It is truly an honor to have been selected as the host hotel for this year’s conference, which will bring together more than 75 historic hoteliers across the country,” said Paul Ohm, general manager of The Pfister Hotel. “Historic Hotels of America is a well-respected organization in which we are proud to be a member. We are especially proud that the Marcus family has been recognized for its hard work and dedication to historic preservation over the past 50 years.”

In conjunction with the Historic Hotels of America conference and the annual Milwaukee Holiday Lights Festival on Thursday, Nov. 21, 2013, The Pfister will host a special illumination ceremony highlighting the hotel’s exterior architecture. The hotel has installed exterior lights that will be lit up throughout the year. The historic section of the building will feature white architectural lighting, while the tower side of The Pfister will change colors in conjunction with various holidays and special events hosted at the hotel. Open to the public, the grand illumination event will take place at 6:45 p.m. on Jefferson Street on the east side of the building.
